This case study shows my design for a client in Panama who is looking to create a care facility for those with Alzheimers and dementia on her property.
Holistic Design for Holistic Care
Caring for her own mother, my client has discovered the immense benefits of holistic care in a restful and natural environment and wishes to open up a facility on her property so others can receive the same care and benefit from the same surroundings.
The benefits of living close to nature and in an environmentally conscientious way are clear, and this design seeks to incorporate elements that allow for this kind of living, while incorporating practical elements for self-sufficiency and essential and desirable day-to day needs.
Permaculture for Therapeutic Spaces
Permaculture approaches lend themselves perfectly to therapeutic spaces that can nurture and help to heal those who spend time in and around them.
This design is for an area on a farm that, in other zones, has already has implemented many permaculture ideas and practices. My design simply aims to build upon the existing to create areas specifically for the new care facility.
Beyond this concept design, I have already created full planting plans for the growing areas shown, with specifics of plant layout and a full plant list. I am continuing to work on putting together some further resources to help the client to visualise the suggestions made and am delighted to continue our collaboration.
If you are interested in creating a therapeutic garden, a relaxing space with medicinal plants, and/or accessible outdoors spaces with amenities for those of all ages and abilities, I can help.
To take things further, please do reach out and I will send you a questionnaire. Once I have your answers, I can quote for my design and/or ongoing consultancy services. I look forward to hearing the details of your project.
