This is a recent concept design for a property in South Carolina, where the needs of a family of three and their dogs must be met. This garden in USDA hardiness zone 7b slopes down very slightly from the south west to north east, with a slightly more pronounced slope down from the front of the house.
Food production in this design focusses on two forest garden areas, on contour hugelkultur beds, and three raised no dig beds for annual polycultures.
A rain garden in the front yard is another key feature, which takes the water from a downspout on the front of the home. And the fire pit and pergola features will add to the amenity of the site, while required access areas on the western edge of the property are maintained.
