Lammas Harvesting and Planting

On Lammas, or Lughnasadh, it seems fitting that I spent some of my day in the garden. But on this traditional holiday of the harvest, I have not just been harvesting, but also planting too.

This time of year is a time of year when many new gardeners who sowed in spring will be harvesting the first fruits of their labours. But this is also a good time to plan ahead for the months to come.

In some areas, especially when growing undercover or with some protection, there are plenty of crops that you can still sow. Today, as well as picking some more raspberries, sowed some more greens for overwintering, and sowed some mustard as a green manure in a cleared area.

The days are getting shorter but summer is still in full swing. Just remember to make sure that you keep planning for the months ahead.
