Another design to show you from my work in summer 2025 is this design for an eco-friendly, sustainable and low-impact resort.
This is a planned resort for a semi-arid location in Utah, well-placed for guests looking to experience what this state’s amazing National and state parks have to offer.
Utah’s varied landscapes are fascinating for those with an interest in ecology and the natural world, and as adventurous travellers continue to come here in search of adventure, there is a need to develop more eco-friendly, sustainable, low-impact and ethical accommodation options in the area.
This project attempts to provide just that.
Eco-friendly and Low-Impact Development
Though this planned development is only in its very early stages, the idea is to create a low-key, and small-scale experience for those who love to get away from it all and enjoy a stunning natural environment.
The goals are for the resort to blend into the surroundings, while also ‘re-greening’ a small valley between bluffs, and becoming self-sufficient in terms of water, energy, food and more.
Specific and measurable metrics will ensure that key sustainable development goals are met in the construction phase and over time.
Sustainable, Slow Travel Solutions
As well as providing high-end, luxury accommodation for a select few, and more rustic camping accommodation, the idea is that this resort will also serve as a hub for environmental education and careful conservation and ecosystem restoration efforts in the area. A small observatory is also planned – for those who love to look to the stars.
The idea is that this will be a destination for learning and for doing good, as well as a place for simple nature connection and relaxation.
Conceptually, this resort should enable sustainable, slow travel within this area. Over time, it should not only sustain itself but also enrich the environment around it and the lives of those who live in communities nearby.
