Regenerative Farm & Agroforestry Masterplanning
Helping farmers, smallholders and homesteaders create productive, resilient landscapes that meet their needs while also working in harmony with the natural world.
Farming is facing multiple, interconnected challenges, from climate change and extreme weather to soil degradation, biodiversity loss, water scarcity and economic uncertainty. There is not any single, simple solution. We need, instead, to understand the land as a living system, as a series of relationships that can be improved and strengthened over time.
I help farmers and landowners develop practical, whole-farm strategies that respond to the opportunities and constraints of their land, while building greater ecological resilience and long-term productivity.
Working land has to keep working while it changes. A farm cannot simply be taken out of production while a new landscape establishes, so the sequence matters as much as the design: what goes in first, what can generate value for the next phase, and what can wait.
What this usually involves
Every farm is different. I start by looking at the landscape as a whole, its water, soils, topography, existing habitats, productive areas, infrastructure and patterns of use, and then consider how these systems can work together.
Depending on the farm and its goals, this might include agroforestry, orchards, productive tree systems, grazing and rotations, shelter belts and windbreaks, as well as water management, soil building and fertility.
It can also encompass biodiversity and habitat creation, alongside access, infrastructure, incorporation of income diversification schemes, and wider land-use planning. The focus is always on how these elements can work together as part of a productive, resilient whole.
The aim is not to impose a template, but to develop a strategy that works with the character of the land and the realities of the farm.
Who this is for
This service is for people managing productive land who want to work more closely with natural systems and plan for the long term, including:
- Farms adapting to climate change, ecological pressures and changing conditions
- Farms exploring regenerative agriculture, agroforestry or more resilient land-management systems
- Smallholdings, homesteads and rural properties looking for an integrated approach to land use, food production and ecology
- Landowners wanting to increase biodiversity, improve soil and water systems, and maintain productive use
- New or established rural projects needing a practical long-term vision for how the whole site can develop

Ways of working together
Land Strategy Session
A focused online conversation about your site before any design work begins — what is realistically possible, and the approach most likely to get you there.
Concept Plan
Water first, then soil, then the productive systems that sit on top of them — silvo-arable and silvopasture layouts, shelter belts, grazing and rotation, set out across the whole holding.
Masterplan & Planting Plan
The complete drawing set with species selection and schedules, detailed to the point a contractor or farm manager can work from it directly.
Implementation & Phasing
What goes in during year one, year three and year ten, so the land keeps working while it changes and each phase can be committed to on its own.
